Foster, Carole

Carole Foster explores the dynamic rhythms and energy she sees within the landscape and finds inspiration for her painting from frequent excursions and extensive travels,
Carole’s subject matter over the years has been tremendously diverse, but she is best known for her landscapes of the vast arid areas of the Australian outback.

Using the geographical layers and natural formations of each area for subject matter, Carole begins to build up the surface of the work. Using a broad brush or palette knife, layers of paint and colour are applied to imply the broader sweep of the geographic rhythms of the landscape. Details within the landscape are then worked on – gestural strokes for tree trunks and daubs of swirling, luscious paint for foliage. Carole’s work is infused with a wonderful depth of colour and a vibrancy, which makes her canvasses glow.

A range of Carole’s latest paintings will be always be exhibited at the gallery. Please ring the gallery (03 5258 3645) for more Exhibition paintings, also refer to ‘New Works’.
