BIOGRAPHY
MICHAEL PARKER was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1968. His interest in art was sparked at an early age by watching his mother paint and it wasn’t long before Michael picked up a brush and began his own journey into the world of art.
Michael spent many years in Europe observing the techniques and styles of the masters. He explored art and challenged himself by painting a range of subjects including portraits, landscapes and abstracted works. Upon returning home in 1996, he was commissioned to paint the cricketer, Donald Bradman, walking out onto the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 1937. This very successful painting was reproduced in a limited edition print, 20 of which were signed by Sir Don himself.
Now with some 26 years behind him, Michael feels at ease and at his creative best exploring a range of media, subjects and styles. Using the colours of nature as inspiration, Michael’s work will often contain varying media – acrylic, oil, pencil, pastel, and collage – sometimes all these media will be in the one painting. He also uses a range of materials to gain interesting and exciting textural qualities within some of his works.
Michael Parker’s painting reflects his need for challenge, change and exploration.
