Janet Flinn
|
Janet draws her inspiration from the natural world and especially enjoys depicting Australia's unique bird life. Each year she travels many hundreds of kilometres to observe birds in their habitat and gain inspiration for her paintings.
Exploiting different techniques and mediums in watercolour, acrylic and oil paint, pastel and mixed media, Janet's paintings explore beyond illustration, while capturing the essential character of her subjects.
Janet has held eleven solo exhibitions at Galleries and has contributed to numerous group exhibitions. Her awards include 1st Prize Oil Painting Award 2001 and Silver Medal 2003 at Wildlife Art Society of Australasia's Annual Exhibition. She was voted Waverley Art Society 'Artist of the Year' by both Members and the Public in 2003 and by Public Choice in 2005.
Janet's colourful and individual paintings have been published in the book 'Feather and Brush': 'Three Centuries of Australian Bird Art' by Dr. P. Olsen, in magazines including in Australian Artist and International Artist, as cards, on calendars, (including R.S.P.C.A's calendar from 1993-2005) and as Limited Edition Prints in Australia and Europe. In 2005 Janet's Drawings of Flora and Fauna were commissioned by the City of Monash to feature on Interpretive Signage at Valley Reserve Mt. Waverley, Victoria, Australia.
You will always find a range of Janet's paintings at Seaview Gallery.
